Moved the site

Well, I moved the site to an old domain we own.. It was supposed to be used for a team of developpers but oh well, it works for this as well :P Guess we’ll just use the name DaMoose as a ‘company’. Anyways, the reason of this move was because the other hosting service dude thingy was incredibly expensive, I mean I pay like €15 a year for this one, and that one was €212,-  a year for less space and bandwidth? I mean come ooon, I get you use Cpanel, but that doesn’t make it THAT expensive.

Initial Lore for Release.

Well, you know I’ve been thinking lately.. and doing some sketching and minddoodling with some ideas and everything, and I believe I’ve come to a decent piece of lore for the initial release of the game.(That being the level 1-20 zones). It’s based off of the original story I created, but rather then focussing on the entire war of the ancients, this is about the ancient Elumar.

Now, I’m pretty sure nobody knows who Elumar is, because he was supposed to be released in a second content update for the original game(which never got far enough to make it to the release sadly :( ).. So yeah.. Here comes a bit of his story.

SVN Opened

As the title suggests, I’ve just opened an SVN repository.. Yes I did, now shush. I’ll be using it to be able to even edit the source from other locations then just my static PC, as well as allowing others to use whatever I modify on the engine.. Or to simply get multiple programmers on this when the time comes.. Really, we’ll see.

Anyways, Here is the link to the SVN Repository.. it’s slightly empty but oh well.. It works.

Patchnotes 0.0.1

Found my old tileset(s)!

Well, this comes as a relief for me, I’ve just found back all my old tilesets and sprites I used in the original SOTA game. This’ll save me some trouble of having to edit RMXP tiles and whatever, yeah I know I’m lazy.. But you’ve got to agree that these look pretty.

Updater draft

Well, I’ve found a nifty bit of updater source code on the Eclipse forums.. and decided to give it a twist of my own.. And sort of finished it and made it function properly since there was a minor issue with the original creator’s copy/pasting.(Yarrr, pasting be awesome!)

Forest Tileset?

Yeah, I know what you’re thinking. “Oh god please give us some original cool tiles to look at pl0x!” and here I come with them… NOT! They’re just plain and simple RPG Maker XP tiles, granted I adjusted them a little and am in the process of  adding more and actually finding some tiles I feel that are missing, but so far I think I’ve got most if not all of the forest tileset here, just need a dirtpath and and water now..

Choice of Engine

Well, I’ve been doodling around with some engines for a while.. and the one that seems the most promosing and sleak to use as a base is Eclipse Origins… It looks neat, and it’s designer is one of the no-nonsense just functionality stuff.. I like that in a core engine, since it means there’s less bullshit to remove.

For some pics, just look through the topic you lazy bums! I mean come on! Sadly the engine isn’t finished yet, I’m going to wait until there’s a release with most if not all the features I’m interested in that he’s mentioned are done, and then change the entire thing to my liking.. Just because I can really.

Opened the webpage

Well, I’ve just opened this webpage on which I’ll be posting the news about the new version of the SOTA game I’ve been planning to work on, it’ll be nothing like the original and will most likely have scripted events, proper game systems and will actually be continued this time ;)

More news to follow as I go along with the planning, I’m going to use this site as both a storage for my ideas, as well as simply showing off what I can do.. At this point in time there’s no need for anyone to come along and help yet, since there’s no core engine to work around yet.. But it’ll come.. yes it will..
